Israeli army arrests Aziz Dweik

The Israeli army arrested Palestinian Legislative Council Speaker d. Aziz Dweik, a senior official also in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), near the city of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

The Israeli army confirmed the arrest Dweik on Thursday on suspicion of involvement with terrorist groups.

The Hamas Prime Legislative Council arrested at a roadblock, "Jaba" military southeast of the city of Ramallah during his return to the city of Hebron after a meeting between him and the representative of South Africa, the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah.

And accused Israel of trying to prevent the rival Palestinian factions to complete agreement of the unit.

The Hamas movement won parliamentary elections in 2006 and seized control of Gaza from forces loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas during a brief civil war a year later, and the disruption of Parliament since then.

And reached Hamas and Abbas's Fatah reconciliation agreement last year but has not been implemented yet.

Israel, the United States and the European Union regard Hamas as a terrorist group.

Dweik's office issued a statement condemning the arrest and abduction was considered "an attempt to disrupt the occupation of parliamentary life, and also try to hit every effort to achieve internal reconciliation and national unity, and a continuation of the aggressive approach practiced by the occupation against our people and their representatives."

He called the office of international institutions by clicking on the "occupation to stop its practices against the president of the Council and House of Representatives, and the right of our people, and pressure for the immediate release of Dr. Dweik, especially since it suffers from several health problems, caused by the kidnapping after his election as President of the Legislative Council."

Israel has arrested Dweik, in August / August 2006, and spent nearly two years in detention with him to be released in the month of June 2009, also held on the Container checkpoint a few months ago and was released after hours of detention.
